BOOKING

  • What styles of tattoo will you do?

I specialize in microrealism, realism, and anything stylized! I primarily work in black & gray, but I’m open to hearing all of your out-of-the-box ideas. If you’re not sure if I’m the right artist for your preferred style of tattoo, let’s chat! Start your booking inquiry HERE my promise to you as an artist is that I won’t take on a challenge that I don’t feel confident in.

  • Do I need to book a consultation?

It depends: small or simple tattoos usually don’t require a consultation. For large or complicated tattoos, we may ask you to book a consultation— this way, we can give you the best experience and make sure that the day of your appointment goes off without a hitch! If your tattoo requires a consult, we’ll let you know via email before you schedule your appointment.

  • How much is this going to cost?

My minimum for full-priced sessions is $120, but your tattoo is as individual as you are. We carefully consider all the important details to provide a rough estimate before you book, so there’s no surprises on the day of your appointment. The deposit that we collect at the time of booking secures your spot on the calendar, and is directly applied to your session!

  • What if I want to pay my deposit in cash?

We accept cash! Many of our clients prefer to pay by card, and our appointment calendar is built to reflect that— but don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to secure your spot in our books with a cash payment.

  • Can I see my tattoo before my session?

We’re just as excited about your new tattoo as you are, scout’s honor! Rest assured, your scheduled appointment includes extra time for changes, in case you’re not 100% happy with your tattoo design. In the meantime, we kindly ask for your patience. This helps us keep our booking process efficient (and gets you on the calendar sooner!)

  • What if I need to reschedule/cancel?

Please let us know as soon as you can, but we understand that life happens! Email us at felixbelktattoosandartistry@gmail.com to make changes to your appointment. Your first reschedule is free, but 2+ more reschedules are subject to a $20 fee.

For rescheduled sessions, deposits will expire one year after the originally scheduled session. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable upon cancellation.

DAY OF APPOINTMENT

  • How early should I arrive?

We’ll be at the studio prepping for your session ahead of time, so please don’t feel the need to arrive super early! As long as you arrive by your scheduled appointment time, you’re in good shape. If you’ll be over 15 minutes late or need to reschedule, please see our policies above and get in touch with us at felixbelkattoosandartistry@gmail.com.

  • How should I prepare for my session?

Make sure to eat beforehand, stay hydrated, and show some love to your favorite skincare routine before the day of your appointment! Dress comfortably, and make sure the area you are getting tattooed is easily accessible. Please feel free to bring snacks, water, entertainment, or other self-care items to help you feel comfortable— especially if you have a longer appointment!

  • Can I bring a friend to my appointment?

Absolutely! It’s important to us that you feel comfortable throughout your experience, even if this means bringing some company. We are limited on space, so we can only accommodate one (adult human) visitor at a time. We kindly ask that your kiddos and pets stay at home, but if you have a service animal, please let us know before your session so we can accommodate.

  • Where are you located?

We are currently located at 417 Tattoo Collaborative:

3433 S. Campbell Ave Suite W, Springfield, MO

  • Do you take card/cash?

Yes and yes! Our booking systems are designed to accept card payments through Square. If you paid your deposit by card, you can still pay for the rest of your tattoo in cash, and vice versa. We also accept CashApp and Venmo upon request.

  • Can I use numbing cream?

Numbing cream is allowed, and it can be a great way to avoid some of the discomfort that comes with getting a new tattoo. Please make sure you understand the pros and cons of using numbing cream, and let me know ahead of time so we can plan accordingly!

AFTERCARE

  • When can I take off my Derm Shield?

At our studio, we provide Derm Shield: a transparent adhesive bandage that eliminates scabbing and reduces the risk of scarring. You might have heard of a few different brands like Saniderm or Second Skin, but I find that Derm Shield works the best!

We recommend leaving it on for 4-5 days, then taking it off in the shower (or under warm running water), pulling straight out from your skin.

  • How should I take care of my new tattoo?

After you remove your Derm Shield, start gently washing your tattoo 2-3 times a day with unscented antibacterial soap. Moisturize with fragrance-free lotion, and avoid touching or picking at the tattooed area. We recommend using this aftercare routine for the first 2-6 weeks of healing!

  • My tattoo is itchy/flaky, is that normal?

It’s not uncommon for a new tattoo to flake, peel, or become itchy and irritated. Leaving your Derm Shield on for the recommended 4-5 days after your session can help reduce this discomfort, but itchiness/flakiness should stop after about two weeks.

  • My tattoo isn't healing correctly, what do I do?

We’re always happy to offer guidance on taking care of your new tattoo. Following these aftercare procedures will help your tattoo heal beautifully, but if something looks infected, seek medical assistance immediately. Please remember that tattoos are considered open wounds for about the first week of healing, and we are not qualified to diagnose or treat medical problems. If you’re not sure, please reach out and we can clarify if we are able to offer direct assistance!

  • How can I make my tattoo age more gracefully?

Keep the tattoo out of direct sun as much as possible, especially during the first six months after getting your new ink. After the initial healing process, if the tattoo will be exposed directly to the sun, make sure to apply sunscreen! Your tattoo will also hold up better overtime with occasional touchups.

  • Do you offer free touchups?

I offer one free touch up! There’s no specific timeframe on when you should get your tattoo touched up, but wait at least a month for your tattoo to heal.
